Vidiots is back in business and better than ever! On a sunny summer Sunday in June, the iconic video store reopened its doors. Relocating to Eagle Rock with a new location that now includes both a rental shop and a movie theater. Things kicked off with a matinee of Disney’s animated classic Robin Hood. This was followed by an evening screening of the ‘90s hit Terminator 2: Judgment Day. And fun was had by all in attendance.
Vidiots has restored the historic Eagle theater into one of the best retro experiences in the Los Angeles area. Dare we say it’s even more inviting than the New Beverly? The projection was bright, crisp and clear. T2 has never looked better. The sold out theater was bustling with energy. It was truly like being transported to that July 4th weekend in 1991 when the movie originally opened. This is what going to the movies is all about.
Best of all, when the movie was over, the audience could easily breeze through the lobby and head into the newly renovated rental section of Vidiots. Where ‘90s rental records are being proudly broken in 2023. Physically media is far from dead, and this place stands as proof. If you’ve been craving the true video rental experience, the new and improved Vidiots will surely be your new go to destination.

Vidiots History
Vidiots was founded in 1985 by Patty Polinger and Cathy Tauber, two dynamic Los Angeles natives. It quickly emerged as a film sanctuary in Santa Monica. With an ever-growing collection and a passionate community, Vidiots thrived for three decades as a beloved alternative video store. However, recognizing the seismic shifts in the film landscape, Vidiots transformed into a non-profit organization in 2012. This pivotal moment attracted crucial support from Dr. Leonard Lipman and Annapurna Pictures. Infusing new life into the institution and ensuring its continued accessibility. In 2017, faced with rising costs, Vidiots made the difficult decision to close its iconic storefront. But preserved its 50,000-title collection. Thanks to the unwavering backing of Annapurna Pictures, Vidiots devised a comprehensive plan for a sustainable relaunch. Finding a new home in the historic Yosemite Theatre, which had captivated audiences since its opening in 1929.
