Los Angeles, also known as the “City of Angels,” is such a fun place to visit with children. This area may be the dreams of budding actors, but it’s also a magical, family-friendly adventure with activities and must-see places to explore. Whether you are an international traveller, or a California local, kids really do love LA. It’s all the movies, the myths and the legends. There is so much culture and history, and so much to do spread across 468 square miles–I got you covered on the best family-friendly places to visit, grouped by area.
Whether you’re interested in art, culture, nature, or entertainment, there is literally something for everyone in LA. From the beaches of Santa Monica and Venice to the museums and galleries of West LA and Pasadena, there are countless destinations to discover. Families can take a stroll down the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, ride roller coasters at Universal Studios Hollywood, or explore the many exhibits and interactive displays at the California Science Center. With so much to see and do, Los Angeles is the perfect destination for a fun-filled family vacation.
I grew up an hour south of LA, so when I had children, LA took on a whole new shape and meaning. No longer was it just about concerts, bars, coffee shops and art galleries (although those are still fun!), it was a whole new layer of meaning to re-experience some of the cliche, stereotypical LA stuff with our tiny brand new humans.
The Hollywood Sign! The Stars on Hollywood Blvd.! Universal Studios where they make actual movies! It all magically comes to life again when you bring your children to Los Angeles. So buckle up and be a big kid again in the City of Angels.

Hollywood Walk of Fame
Take a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard and spot your favorite celebrities’ stars on the sidewalk. Kids will love the opportunity to snap photos with the stars of the creators or actors of their movies and TV shows. My kids loved walking around and reading the names on the stars especially when we caught a glimpse of their favorites such as Harrison Ford, George Lucas, Lucille Ball, and of course Walt Disney! Seeing these stars on the ground in person is a magical experience for young and old alike. It’s amazing to think that people come from all over the world to see these little stars, but it’s because of what they mean, and what they signify. Film and cinema, for better or worse, connects us all.
